a) 5 - 2 x = - 1   ⇔ - 2 x = - 6  ⇔ x = 6/2 = 3

b) x/4 = 9   ⇔ x = 36

c) 4 x - 5 = x + 7   ⇔ 3 x = 12  ⇔ x = 12/3 = 4

d) 1 + 3 x - 4 = 7 x + 5 - x   ⇔  3 x - 3 = 6 x + 5  ⇔ - 3 x = 8  ⇔ x = - 8/3

Ex2

a) 2 x = 18  ⇔ x = 18/2 = 6

b)  x - 7 = 3   ⇔ x = 10
